AMERICAN COUP tells the story of the first coup ever carried out by the CIA - Iran, 1953. Explores the blowback from this seminal event, as well as the coup's lingering effects on the present US-Iranian relationship. Includes a segment on the 1979 Iranian Hostage Crisis and its relation to the 1953 coup. Concludes with a section on the recent Iranian presidential election. The Ojai Mardi Gras, 'OMG,' is an annual charity ball in Ojai, California. A 'child' of the New Orleans Mardi Gras, the OMG has its own flair and yearly theme. 2013 marks the 23rd OMG, with 'Burning Desire' as the theme. The origin of the OMG is a moving tribute to the power of love and friendship, bringing together a community to celebrate their lives. What We Eat: Concentrating food products. By extracting water from fruit and vegetables, the producers find it possible to provide as much nourishment in a ten pound box as formerly was contained in a barrel or more. Onions, carrots, turnips, potatoes and cabbage required to make 10 pounds of dried food. All this water was removed from the vegetables required to fill the 10-pound tin. Mrs. A. Louise Andrea, the Screen Magazine's cooking expert, prepared a dried vegetable dinner. When the vegetables are placed in water they become almost their original size. Ready to serve. Screen Oddities: "Young men who didn't go west." Horace Greeley advised in vain for these worthies, and they're not sorry they turned their broad backs to the call of the noted journalist. X-Ray mysteries revealed through the motion picture camera. A practical demonstration of this remarkable appliance, which has revolutionized surgery. Mistakes in diagnosis are virtually impossible when it is used. Subtitles: The X-Ray is regulated with hydrogen. When in use, the tube is encased in a glass globe which nearly encircles it. The glass of the globe contains lead, which protects the surgeon and patient from "stray rays." A late model X-Ray generator. The spark discharge from the generator. Fifteen kilowatts at 120,000 volts. Detecting decayed teeth by radiography. A small piece of film is placed behind the patient's teeth and the current turned on for about 1/5 of a second.
