Joseph Wiseman

'Joseph Wiseman' (qv) was born on May 15, 1918 in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He came to Broadway in the 1930s, where he was critically hailed for performances in Shakespeare's "King Lear", 'Clifford Odets' (qv)' "Golden Boy" and 'Anton Chekhov' (qv)'s "Uncle Vanya". Motion pictures in which Wiseman has been seen include _Detective Story (1951)_ (qv), starring 'Kirk Douglas' (qv), _Viva Zapata! (1952)_ (qv) with 'Marlon Brando' (qv), _The Garment Jungle (1957)_ (qv), _The Night They Raided Minsky's (1968)_ (qv), _The Valachi Papers (1972)_ (qv) and _The Apprenticeship of Duddy Kravitz (1974)_ (qv) which brought him back to his native Canada for a co-starring role with 'Richard Dreyfuss' (qv).::Anonymous
