Lewis Teague

Extremely efficient and underrated director 'Lewis Teague' (qv) was born on March 8th, 1938, in Brooklyn, NY. He apprenticed with director 'Sydney Pollack' (qv) at Universal Television, and was a production manager on the landmark rock concert documentary _Woodstock (1970)_ (qv).Teague found gainful employment working for legendary producer 'Roger Corman' (qv) throughout the 1970s: he handled second-unit director chores on _Death Race 2000 (1975)_ (qv), _Thunder and Lightning (1977)_ (qv) and _Avalanche (1978)_ (qv) and served as an editor for 'Monte Hellman' (qv)'s outstanding _Cockfighter (1974)_ (qv) and 'Jonathan Demme' (qv)'s delightful _Crazy Mama (1975)_ (qv). Teague also tackled second-unit director responsibilities on 'Samuel Fuller' (qv)'s classic World War II epic _The Big Red One (1980)_ (qv).Teague made his feature debut as the co-director of the entertainingly trashy _Dirty O'Neil (1974)_ (qv). He followed this with the lively Depression-era crime exploitation winner _The Lady in Red (1979)_ (qv), which he also edited. The witty horror-creature feature _Alligator (1980)_ (qv) and the gritty urban vigilante opus _Fighting Back: The Story of Rocky Bleier (1980)_ (qv) were likewise solid and satisfying movies. Teague directed two superior 'Stephen King' (qv) adaptations in the 1980s, the terrifying _Cujo (1983)_ (qv) and the immensely enjoyable anthology outing _Cat's Eye (1985)_ (qv). His other films include the fun _Romancing the Stone (1984)_ (qv) sequel _The Jewel of the Nile (1985)_ (qv), the exciting action romp _Navy Seals (1990)_ (qv), the cool futuristic sci-fi offering _Wedlock (1991)_ (qv) and the nifty made-for-TV supernatural shocker _The Triangle (2001)_ (qv). In addition to his film work, Teague has directed episodes of such TV shows as _The Alfred Hitchcock Hour (1962)_ (qv), _Barnaby Jones (1973)_ (qv), _Shannon's Deal (1990)_ (qv), _Profiler (1996)_ (qv) and _Nash Bridges (1996)_ (qv). After a regrettable five-year absence from directing, 'Lewis Teague' (qv) made a welcome comeback with the dramatic short _Cante Jondo (2007)_ (qv).::woodyanders
