William Newman

'William Newman' (qv) made his film debut in the 'Stuart Rosenberg' (qv) film _Brubaker (1980)_ (qv), starring 'Robert Redford' (qv), and followed this up with _The Postman Always Rings Twice (1981)_ (qv) opposite 'Jack Nicholson' (qv) and 'Jessica Lange' (qv).Acting roles continued through out the 1980s with roles in the 'Stephen King' (qv) horror film _Silver Bullet (1985)_ (qv) alongside 'Gary Busey' (qv) and 'Corey Haim' (qv), the drama _The Mosquito Coast (1986)_ (qv) with 'Harrison Ford' (qv) and 'River Phoenix' (qv), and the 'Chevy Chase' (qv) comedy _Funny Farm (1988)_ (qv). He played a sheriff in the _The Last Days of Frank and Jesse James (1986)_ (qv) and appeared in 'George A. Romero' (qv)'s _Monkey Shines (1988)_ (qv) proving that, as a character actor, he has the ability to adapt to various genres.During the 1990s, work for Newman did not slow down. He appeared in: _Leprechaun (1993)_ (qv), _Mrs. Doubtfire (1993)_ (qv), 'Stephen King' (qv)'s _The Stand (1994)_ (qv) opposite 'Rob Lowe' (qv), _The Craft (1996)_ (qv) and _Touch (1997)_ (qv), the latter two films with 'Skeet Ulrich' (qv).Newman has since worked steady in film, but is also a familiar face on TV, his roles including _Eerie, Indiana (1991)_ (qv) episode 'Mr Chaney', _Picket Fences (1992)_ (qv), and _My Name Is Earl (2005)_ (qv).::Matt Lee-Williams
