Claude Renoir
بیوگرافی
Apprenticed under noted cinematographers 'Christian Matras' (qv) and 'Boris Kaufman' (qv) and shot or co-shot several films directed by his uncle, 'Jean Renoir' (qv). Renoir did the photography for one of his uncle's cinematic apogees, _Une partie de campagne (1936)_ and was the camera operator for the tragic, ebullient master text _La Grande Illusion (1937)_ (qv). As a cinematographer, 'Claude Renoir' (qv) was responsible for the luminous color work of _The River (1951)_ (qv), _Carrosse d'or, Le (1952)_ and _Elena and Her Men (1956)_ (qv). He also generated the stark black-and-white compositions of 'Maurice Cloche' (qv)'s _Monsieur Vincent (1947)_ (qv) and the psychedelic 60s colors of 'Roger Vadim' (qv)'s _Barbarella (1968)_ (qv). Renoir lensed a stunning array of films, including _The Mystery of Picasso (1956)_ (qv), _Cleopatra (1963)_ (qv) and 'Bertrand Blier' (qv)'s _Femmes Fatales (1976)_ (qv). After his final DP credit, _The Spy Who Loved Me (1977)_ (qv), Renoir worked as a cameraman on three films as he, sadly, lost his sight. Son of character actor 'Pierre Renoir' (qv).::Daniel Yates <[email protected]>
