Jason Mewes

New Jersey born and bred actor, who burst onto cinema screens in 1994, playing the grass smoking, fast talking, foul mouthed and over sexed,...but very likable "Jay" in 'Kevin Smith' (qv)'s hilarious low budget hit _Clerks (1994)_ (qv). The off beat & philosophical drug dealing characters of "Jay and Silent Bob" (Mewes and Smith) cropped up again in four more films directed by the talented Smith.....the tepidly received _Mallrats (1995)_ (qv), was followed by more street wisdom in the scintillating romantic comedy _Chasing Amy (1997)_ (qv), they tackled theological issues in the quirky religious comedy _Dogma (1999)_ (qv) and then took on Hollywood, in the road trip epic _Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back (2001)_ (qv). There was also a short-lived animated series _Clerks (2000)_ (qv). Their characters also made a cameo appearance in _Scream 3 (2000)_ (qv).Mewes has since kicked on to appearing in other non-Smith projects including _Hot Rush (2002)_ (qv), _R.S.V.P. (2002)_ (qv), _High Times Potluck (2002)_ (qv), _Pauly Shore Is Dead (2003)_ (qv), _My Big Fat Independent Movie (2005)_ (qv) and _Feast (2005)_ (qv). His last 'Kevin Smith' (qv)'s films are _Clerks II (2006)_ (qv) and _Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008)_ (qv). Mewes has appeared in every film directed by Smith except _Jersey Girl (2004)_ (qv), _Cop Out (2010)_ (qv), and _Red State (2011)_ (qv).::[email protected]
