Frank McRae

African-American former NFL player, with plenty of height and built like an ox, has scored over 40 film appearances predominantly as tough thugs, authority figures or even successful comedy roles. McRae first came to attention playing a grinning jail inmate, "Reed Youngblood", helping 'Warren Oates' (qv) escape in _Dillinger (1973)_ (qv), and then quickly notched up minor tough guy roles in several films including _Hard Times (1975)_ (qv), _F.I.S.T. (1978)_ (qv) and _Big Wednesday (1978)_ (qv). However, not to be typecast as a brute, McRae turned in some light-hearted & comedic performances in _National Lampoon's Vacation (1983)_ (qv), _*batteries not included (1987)_ (qv) and as a foul-mouthed mechanic in the hilarious _Used Cars (1980)_ (qv). Also turned in quite funny performances in _Loaded Weapon 1 (1993)_ (qv), and as 'Arnold Schwarzenegger' (qv)'s long-suffering police captain in _Last Action Hero (1993)_ (qv).::firehouse44
