A veteran of stage and screen, award-winning actress 'Miriam Margolyes' (qv) has achieved success on both sides of the Atlantic. Winner of the BAFTA Best Supporting Actress award in 1993 for _The Age of Innocence (1993)_ (qv) she also received Best Supporting Actress at the 1989 LA Critics Circle 'Awards' (qv) for her role in _Little Dorrit (1987)_ (qv) and a Sony Radio Award for Best Actress on "Radio" in 1993. She was the voice of Fly the dog in _Babe (1995)_ (qv).Major credits during her long and celebrated career include _Yentl (1983)_ (qv), _Little Shop of Horrors (1986)_ (qv), _I Love You to Death (1990)_ (qv), _End of Days (1999)_ (qv), _Sunshine (1999)_ (qv), _Cold Comfort Farm (1995)_ (qv), _Cats & Dogs (2001)_ (qv), _Magnolia (1999)_ (qv) and she was Prof. Sprout in _Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets (2002)_ (qv).Most recently Margolyes appeared in 'Stephen Hopkins' (qv)' _The Life and Death of Peter Sellers (2004)_ (qv), _Modigliani (2004)_ (qv), 'István Szabó' (qv)'s _Being Julia (2004)_ (qv) and _Ladies in Lavender (2004)_ (qv) (with Dames 'Maggie Smith' (qv) and 'Judi Dench' (qv)), which is opening at the NY Tribeca Festival on April 23rd.Most memorable TV credits include _Screen Two: Old Flames (1990)_ (qv), _Freud (1984)_ (qv), _The Life and Loves of a She-Devil (1986)_ (qv), _Blackadder (1982)_ (qv), _The Girls of Slender Means (1975)_ (qv), _Oliver Twist (1982) (TV)_, _The History Man (1981)_ (qv), _Vanity Fair (2004)_ (qv) , _Supply & Demand (1997)_ (qv).
