Stuart Margolin

'Stuart Margolin' (qv), the Emmy Award-winning actor and director, was born in Davenport, Iowa. He won two Best Supporting Actor Emmies playing 'James Garner' (qv)'s former cell-mate "Angel" Martin in _The Rockford Files (1974)_ (qv).Margolin made his debut in _The Gertrude Berg Show (1961)_ (qv) before becoming a series regular on _Ensign O'Toole (1962)_ (qv) the following year. His acting career has now spanned more than 50 years.Most of Margolin's work has been on television, where he also has worked as a director since he helmed an episode of _Love, American Style (1969)_ (qv) in 1973. He has been directing episodic TV and made-for-TV movies for 37 years. He has been nominated twice for directing Emmies: in 1987 for a Prime Time Emmy for Outstanding Directing in a Variety or Music Program for _The Tracey Ullman Show (1987)_ (qv) and in 1999 and a Daytime Emmy for Outstanding Directing in a Children's Special for _Das schönste Geschenk (1998)_ (qv).::Jon C.
