Cecilia Roth

She moved to Spain with her father and her brother, 'Ariel Rot' (qv), in 1976 and started acting. Her first major role was in 'Iván Zulueta' (qv)'s _Rapture (1979)_ (qv). After appearing in 'Pedro Almodóvar' (qv)'s debut feature _Pepi, Luci, Bom y otras chicas del montón (1980)_ she kept working with him in _Labyrinth of Passion (1982)_ (qv), _Dark Habits (1983)_ (qv) and _What Have I Done to Deserve This? (1984)_ (qv). In 1995 she moved back to Argentina and became a national movie, stage and TV star. Besides appearing in the U.S. co-produced thriller _The Stranger (1987)_ (qv), she mostly starred in Argentine films including _A Place in the World (1992)_ (qv), hit detective drama _Ashes of Paradise (1997)_ (qv) and family drama _Martín (Hache) (1997)_ (qv), which gained her a Goya Award.
