'Omar Epps' (qv) is an American actor, starring on the ABC drama _Resurrection (2014)_ (qv).Epps was born in Brooklyn, New York, and was raised by his mother, Bonnie Maria Epps, an elementary school principal. No stranger to the big screen, Epps has appeared in lead roles in feature films, including Paramount's _Against the Ropes (2004)_ (qv), in which he starred opposite 'Meg Ryan' (qv), Paramount's _Alfie (2004)_ (qv), opposite 'Jude Law' (qv) and 'Susan Sarandon' (qv), Paramount/MTV's _The Wood (1999)_ (qv), Miramax's _In Too Deep (1999)_ (qv), 'John Singleton' (qv)'s _Higher Learning (1995)_ (qv) and _Juice (1992)_ (qv). His supporting roles include _Breakfast of Champions (1999)_ (qv), opposite 'Bruce Willis' (qv) and 'Nick Nolte' (qv), _Major League II (1994)_ (qv), opposite 'Charlie Sheen' (qv), and _The Program (1993)_ (qv) with 'Halle Berry' (qv). Omar was also seen in Hollywood's best-kept secret, _Scream 2 (1997)_ (qv), MGM's remake of _The Mod Squad (1999)_ (qv), with 'Claire Danes' (qv), and _Love & Basketball (2000)_ (qv). He also starred in 'Takeshi Kitano' (qv)'s _Brother (2000)_ (qv) for Sony Classics.He co-starred on the critically-acclaimed FOX medical drama, _House (2004)_ (qv), for which he received an NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series" in 2007. He was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for "Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama Series" in 2005, as well, as "Outstanding Actor in a Drama Series" in 2006. Epps was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Best Actor for his performance in the December 2002 Showtime Original movie, _Conviction (2002)_ (qv), in which he portrayed "Carl Upchurch", a hardened criminal from South Philadelphia, who spent most of his adult life in prison. It is the story of one man's journey from prisoner to peacemaker. Omar has starred in three HBO Original movies, _First Time Felon (1997)_ (qv), directed by 'Charles S. Dutton' (qv) (Roc), _Screen Two: Deadly Voyage (1996)_ (qv), produced by 'Danny Glover' (qv), and _Daybreak (1993)_ (qv), co-starring 'Cuba Gooding Jr.' (qv). "First Time Felon" and "Deadly Voyage" are based on true stories. Epps also portrayed "Dr. Dennis Gant" on the Emmy Award-winning NBC drama, _ER (1994)_ (qv). As a surgical resident, he teamed up with "Dr. Carter" ('Noah Wyle' (qv)) and "Dr. Benton" ('Eriq La Salle' (qv)).
