Jenny Tran

'Jenny Tran' (qv) is an award winning American television, film & stage actress. She is known for her dramatic and comedic acting. Born in Burbank, California and named after her single mother Sandy's favorite actress, Jenny was raised by her Chinese, Vietnamese family in the San Fernando Valley. One of the first characters she developed at age six was an alien with a robot heart. Jenny told her best friend, Crystal that because she had been eating human food, it wasn't settling well with her and she only had so long to live. She explained that she needed to eat paper secretly in order to survive. When asked to prove herself, they went into their elementary school's bathroom and Jenny ate a paper towel in front of her friend.Growing up, Jenny would put on performances for family gatherings and by the time she started junior high, she discovered a way to spread awareness in her activism work through her craft. The most rewarding moments of her life are making people laugh and touching their hearts through story-telling. Jenny started working at age 16, and graduated from Cleveland Film Academy.Television audiences will recognize Jenny from NBC's Golden Globe and Emmy nominated comedy-drama 'This Is Us', Greg Daniels and Steve Carell's upcoming 2020 comedy - 'Space Force', critically acclaimed FXX comedy- drama TV show 'You're The Worst', BJ Novak's anthology series, 'Platform', TruTV's half hour "brain candy" sketch show 'You Can Do Better' and her recurring character work on 'Laff Mobb's Laff Tracks'. Her VO work is premiering in Steve Oedekerk's new Thumb-Animation: Thumb Wars IX: The Thighs of Skyskipper opposite Phil LaMarr this December. Jenny co-founded and performed various original characters with LaughtivismLA, a non-profit that showcases the rich diversity and comedic talent in Hollywood entertainment. She has toured over nine cities, performed on the main stage at Second City, the Comedy Central stage and iO West where she was the Director of Diversity Outreach.
