Thomas Philip O'Neill

Thomas (Tom) Philip O'Neill (IV) was trained at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts where he received his BFA at Stella Adler Studio, the Experimental Theatre Wing, and the International Theatre Workshop: Amsterdam, Holland. He also trained in London, at the British American Drama Academy. O'Neill completed his Senior Thesis Riding the Belly to the Coconut Grove (advised by Sam Shepard and Annie-B Parson) at the Experimental Theatre Wing, where he wrote, produced, directed and starred in a piece about the infamous fire in Boston in the 1940's at the Coconut Grove Nightclub. A horrific fire in Boston in the 1940's which took many lives, including O'Neill's great uncle, Joseph Crowley.Tom apprenticed at Stella Adler Studios under Master Teacher Alice Saltzman for studio's scene study department. And for two years, Tom worked on Riker's Island through Stella Adler Studio's Outreach Program, as an instructor of voice & speech, movement, scene study and playwriting at three different facilities with three different populations of incarcerated participants.Grandson of former Speaker Thomas 'Tip' O'Neill Jr. Son of 'Thomas Philip O'Neill' (qv) III, former Lt. Gov of Massachusetts and Jaqueline O'Neill, educator and former University Marshall of Harvard University. Brother of Leigh O'Neill, political strategist, former policy director for Truman National Security Project and current Chief of Staff of Government Innovation at Bloomberg Philanthorpies.
