Hicham Benkirane

'Hicham Benkirane' (qv) is founder and CEO of HBK Film Company, LLC (aka HBK F.C.). The company produced its first feature, Good Thief, on a microbudget during the pandemic in 2020. The film was acquired and released by Gravitas Ventures and Myriad Pictures. HBK F.C. subsequently produced the French language film Interstate in 2022. Adapted from an original script by Anthony Jaswinski (The Shallows), the film was directed by Jean Luc Herbulot (TIFF 2021 sensation Saloum) and stars Asia Argento and JoeyStarr in the lead roles. That film was made in partnership with XYZ Films and Canal+, and is expected to premiere at a major festival in late 2022 or 2023. The company is in production on the feature Murder City based on the Black List script by Will Simmons. Michael D. Olmos (Sundance competition film Filly Brown) is directing with Mike Colter (Luke Cage) starring. Village Roadshow Pictures and Fox Entertainment, under the latter's streaming platform Tubi, are financing. In addition to these projects, the company continues to develop a robust slate of elevated, original content for adult audiences.Prior to launching HBK F.C., Hicham held a first-look deal with producer Nigel Sinclair (End of Watch) at White Horse Pictures. Hicham started his film career at ICM in 2001 after graduating from Yale University with a Bachelor's Degree in History. He is a fluent speaker in English, French and Arabic.::HBK F.C.
